Frequently Asked Questions โ€“ Green Family Farm

๐Ÿฎ What makes Mini and Micro Highland cows different from regular Highlands?

Mini and Micro Highlands are selectively bred to be smaller in size, but they still have the same thick coats, gentle personalities, and iconic long horns of traditional Highland cattle. Micros typically mature under 36 inches at the hip, while Minis range between 36โ€“42 inches.

๐Ÿผ At what age can a calf go to its new home?

Our calves are usually ready for their new homes at 6โ€“8 months old. By this age, they are fully weaned, vet-checked, and strong enough to adjust well to a new environment.

๐Ÿง‘โ€โš•๏ธ What health care do your calves receive before leaving?

All calves from Green Family Farm are:

  • Weaned and eating independently
  • Vet-checked and cleared for travel
  • Vaccinated and dewormed
  • Augmented with proper care to support growth and adjustment

๐Ÿšš How do you deliver Highland cows?

We deliver using trusted livestock transporters with well-ventilated trailers, or by air cargo shipping for long-distance buyers. Each calf travels in safe, secure, and comfortable conditions with bedding and water provided. Delivery is available across the country.

๐Ÿก Do I need a stable for my Highland cow?

Highland cows are very hardy thanks to their double coat. They donโ€™t require a stable every night, but they do need access to a three-sided shelter or barn to protect them from rain, wind, and extreme temperatures.

๐Ÿ€ What do Highland cows eat?

They thrive on grass, hay, and clean water, and they adapt well to most climates. In winter, good quality hay should be available at all times. We will provide a feeding guide with each calf.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Are Highland cows good with families?

Yes! Minis and Micros are known for their gentle and friendly temperament. Theyโ€™re often raised as pets or companions on hobby farms and homesteads. Like all livestock, they still require proper handling, fencing, and care.

๐Ÿ“œ Do you offer any guarantees?

Yes โ€” we stand by the health of our calves. Each calf comes with a health guarantee and full vet documentation. We are also available for ongoing support and questions after purchase.
